Personally, I think Starbuck and Cassie are perfect together. Eventually, Starbuck and Cassie would get sealed.

Apollo needs a strong woman like Serina and then Sheba. Apollo and Sheba come from the same background and heritage and are suited for each other and more balanced in their relationship.

In a way Starbuck and Cassie are from similar backgrounds. They have had to pull themselves up by their own bootstraps. Starbuck is still looking for something and someone, he just hasn't pulled his head out yet to realize what he has. Cassie sees a lot more in Starbuck than what others see or that he sees in himself. The biggest problem Starbuck has is that if he ever commits to Cassie, he will lose his combat edge. Now he only has to worry about himself. If he gets sealed, he will have family to worry him. Without the edge, he is likely to get himself killed, especially if they ever had a knockdown drag out fight or he got jealous.

The time for sealing is when he no longer is needed to lead missions or be a combat pilot. Unfortunately it would mean that he has wasted too much of his youth on living on the edge.

I would take either one and I do have a moustache.

Zan,

That is an excellent point.  They are much alike.

Starbuck grew up as an orphan.  Growing up without parents must have been tough.  So he probably rebelled growing up, and became a wild child.

Cassie was a socialator, which may have been given the blessing of the elders (I wonder how many were men), but it definitely was frowned upon by most society.

So, really, they are both outcasts.  There is something to bring a couple together.

Well,
Here I am resurrecting older threads.

Apollo?  No.  Cassie and Starbuck.  For the same reasons that Starbuck and Athena would not work are the same reasons why Apollo and Cassie would not work.  A bad boy with loyalty and a bad girl trying to make good have something in common.  A need for acceptance without condition, a need for the past to be the past, and a past riddled with pain.

Starbuck is not just cocky and irresponsible....it is his way of holding the world at arms length emotionally.  We see hints of this when Fred Astaire popped in for an episode and other hints throughout the show.  However, when the chips are down, he is a soldier, a warrior who follows orders and his friend WITHIN THE CHAIN OF COMMAND.  A  man that has that is not hapless and without responsibility, he is just wearing a facade.  Note that he ultimately is within the chain of command and knows his role.  Any woman with half a brain will know that a man like that will know the role of husband when the time is right.

Cassie....there is a history of honor in the profession she once had, but you can tell in the pilot that she feels the sting of the old womans words and the discomfort of Starbuck knowing her profession.  The good time girl is no longer having fun and the smile is a facade.  Any man with half a brain woud realize her over justification of her profession and her tolerance of the triangle means she is waiting for him to make up his mind but  not yet willing to let go.

Something drove Cassie to her profession and something drover her to enter nursing and seek out the family extended to her by Adama.  Something drove Starbuck to be a Warrior with a chip on his shoulder.  People like Apollo will want to change her and make it all better.  Starbuck knows what a skeleton in a closet looks like and knows that you do not always want it to be better.  An embrace and an acceptance of the woman within is all that matters.  As long as he looks into her eyes and she knows that he is seeing the treasure within the simple, fragile, and chipped jar of clay...all is well.  Love is a warm candle in a dark existence and a people with pasts need that more than they do to be fixed.  Frankly, people from homes like Adama's just will never get it, will never understand human frailty in the inter relational sense. They can be a friend to those people, but cannot make love to them and share intimacy.  Broken people tend to be broken in the right parts in such a way they fit together like puzzle pieces.

I dated a Cassie once.  We were very much in love and it did not happen.  Long story, if you wanna hear it, it'll kill your day and make a good lifetime movie and I will hijack this thread.

In three to five more seasons...Cassie and Starbuck would have figured it out.

Now there's an interesting thought.

Yes, that's what I heard too.

I don't know what Richard Hatch did with Sheba, but word has it he killed off Starbuck and took Cassiopiea for himself.

Now that's just second hand, because admittedly after hearing he killed Starbuck--though apparently brought him back later--I wrote off R. H.'s books, and never did read them.

I was wondering if there is indeed a continuation film if Cassie might wind up with Apollo? I think they'd make a great couple.

I don't know.  Cassie just doesn't seem respectable enough for Apollo--Son of Adama--with that Socialator background.  However, that same background seems to give her the subtle hint of larceny that makes her perfect for Starbuck.

But, Cassiopeia became a respected med tech and her outlook changed. I think that would make her suitable for Apollo.
