I wanted to thank all the servicemen and women for their duty and sacrifice.

Specifically,
My Dad who served in WWII as a paratrooper and landed on the beaches of normandy on D day.  He also unfortunatly toured the concentration camps and my Mom said he had terrible nightmares up to the time he died in 1970.

Jim(ZanKoku) who served in Vietnam

Scorp who was National Gaurd during Desert Strorm

If I missed anyone else on this forum(sorry)
Thank you all for your service.  I can not express in words the thanks you deserve or all the thoughts in my heart.  my prayers go out to all the servicemen and women who are now in harms way, I pray they return soon to their homes and families.

Raise that flag High.

Of you know of a WWII Vet, Thank them for we are losing them in great numbers.

If you know a Vietnam Vet, welcome them home

If you see a man or woman in uniform, thank them for serving.

Jim,
One more thing..if you live close to a VA hospital or a nursing home..Please take the time and make an effort to go and thank them..Like Jim said we are loosing them daily..they must never be forgotten for what they have given to us...Ask then to tell you their stories for these are stories that need to be remembered and be handed down to our children and their children for generations to come.
  Also remember these few things....

It was the VETERAN, not the preacher,
who has given us freedom of religion.

It was the VETERAN, not the reporter,
who has given us freedom of the press.

It was the VETERAN, not the poet,
who has given us freedom of speech.

It was the VETERAN, not the campus prganizer,
who has given us freedom to assemble.

It is the VETERAN, not the lawyer,
who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the VETERAN, not the politician,
who has given  us the right to vote.

It is the VETERAN,
who salutes the flag.

It is the VETERAN,
Who serves under the flag.

ETERNAL  REST  GRANT  THEM  O LORD,
AND  LET  PERPETUAL  LIGHT  SHINE  UPON  THEM...

All Veterans are brothers. What is a brother? Go to this site and you will see.

My two oldest children are about to embark on a journey in the Air Force.

We served/serve proudly, and thank you for posts like this.

Warrior- brother

I spent 5 years AF. Father retired Army Reserve (before and after 6 years from 1940-1946) Oldest brother 26 years Air Force, Middle Brother 2 years active and 4 yeards Army Reserve. Nephew Army, 1 son Marines, 1 Army.  And that is just in the 20th century. <g>.

We go back the American Revolution, War of 1812, Civil War WWI.

And I would go today if they would take me.

Congrats on your kids joining the AF.

We were lucky.

Revolutionary War my great great great (forget how many) ended the war with a miniball in his head and died in the Cholera epedemic in Philadelphia after the war.

His son fought in War of 1812. Dug out a mini ball out of himself. Became a minister after the war and the church is still in existence.

Civil War. Great Grandfather lost his thumb to a miniball and arm to gangrene 3 days later. Last battkle was in Murfeesboro Tenn.

Those were the only injuries in the past 231 years.
