As Laurette says, she has people from all over the world stop her and talk to her about Battlestar.  A show that was one season 27 years ago..........What do you think  the reason/reasons is that it has remained popular?  I know mine, and will list them in a bit.  What do you think?

Engaging characters, an original concept, a celebration of decent human values, and the overriding power of the human spirit.

Plus Cassiopeia and Sheeba were pretty hot.

I agree with Tag, but don't forget Serina and Athena. They were not drudges either.

4 hot women on one show. Gotta love it.

It's a classic story about people trying to find their home.  I think everyone can relate to that.  About good vs. evil.  About family values.

It isn't dated.  Compare to Buck Rogers.  It was a space opera (which is what is was supposed to be).

Characters who you care about.  I'll repeat what was said earlier, an original story.

And my first crush, Sheba...

The story is wonderful, it is about survival and the human spirit.  Mostly , for me it is the characters on the show.  They are so endearing.  Adama is like a father, that I didn't have.  Always there, always making you feel everything was gonna be ok.  The strong women in the show were an inspiration to me.  Knowing that I could be that way too.  Apollo was my second crush, Luke Skywalker being the first.  I hear most guys complain that women go for the bad boys, not me.............I love the rock solid heros that are good and kind and save the day!  I still do Smiley It was wonderful to watch.  I love Vipers and the basestars..........but mostly the galactica!!!!!!!!!!!  So very cool Cool All of it.

Flirt with Starbuck, marry Apollo...

It is good solid storytelling about  core values, and had all the ingredients of a classic story: heros, hope, love, humour, danger and romance, a touch of religion, and a moral structure. It was guided by a clearer set of rules than what are currently fashionable, but there are still lots of people who don't like the current trend for moral ambiguity and disrepect.

It has plenty of  opportunity for thinking about the big questions: where did we come from, does good always triumph over evil, will faith prevail, does the human spirit strengthen or wither under the threat of ultimate annhilation.

yet

if you aren't the type to think that deep it was still a cracking good yarn, with likeable people, nice effects and a comforting familiarity..

Cheers,

Who could go wrong following Ben Cartwright, I mean Commander Adama.

To me it was like a space going Bonanza type story except the girls who fell in love with the good guys didn't die on every episode.
