Just wondering if presented with the opportunity to make an appearance in TNS, would Laurette be interested?

Laurette actually said in her last chat that she has never seen TNS....she did say one of her daughters wants to be an actress and wouldn't it be weird if she got on the new galactica.

I think there are some traditional fans that would be very upset if she did. But I think many would be just glad to see her again. I would. And I think she would enjoy the experience with the cast and crew.

And if her sister took up a role in the new show, or Serenity it would be interesting to see her daughter follow her and her father's footsteps. Plus I'm curious how much of the Laurette Spang we knew we would see in her.

She emailed David Eick ?!?

http://www.ifmagazine.com/feature.asp?article=1482

iF: Are you planning on bringing any more classic GALACTICA actors on the show like Richard Hatch?

EICK: Laurette Spang who played Cassiopeia on the original series emailed me, and I thought it might be fun to try to find something for her.  It’s just not where our heads are at in terms of generating that kind of publicity for the show.  We’re not targeting the sci-fan specifically right now.  I think if you are a sci-fi fan you have sampled the show, and you have decided whether you like the show or not.  Those fans are either an audience for the show or not, and if you’ve rejected it we’re probably not going to get you back.

The audiences, who haven’t found the show and might like show, are the ones who have been kept at bay by the title or based on the network that we are on.  These are the audiences I am trying to get to, and they’re the ones who watch SOPRANOS, NIP TUCK, ER, and WEST WING.  An audience that likes that kind of drama would like our show and watch it.  I don’t think they know about it, or I think they see the title and say ‘I don’t watch that kind of STAR TREK stuff.’

So to say, "let's get Dirk Benedict to play a Cylon," yeah that’d be fun and we talk about it from time to time.

1. The more publicity, the better.

2. What sci-fi fans, or actually non-sci-fi fans is he talking about? The "yeah I usually watch Survivor and Survival of the Richest but now I thought like I'll catch an episode of Galactica and now I hear like this blonde chick from the old Galactica is on it so I'm not going to watch it now" fan?

I don't know why he's reluctant to have Laurette on it but those reasons are bogus.
