Given Cassie's state of mind in HOG, I see her as more than ready for settling down with Mocha Boy. He, like 90% of men, didn't see it, but it was there. I see them as finally getting down to it, and Cassie getting her M.D. Or whatever the Colonial equivalent.

Ah Sen, are you that rare ten percent?

Actually, I was thinking later today that in the Glen Larson novels, Barista Boy and Cassie most certainly broke up at some point late in that series.  So . . . Bwahahahahaha!

I guess I don't, because it would mean that, apart from saving her life from the Atori Sect nutjobs, and putting her on the path to medicine, all the struggles and suffering and tempest, regarding their relationship, ultimately becomes meaningless, it we just break them up. Does she go back to Cain? back to Associalating? Does she put chewing gum in Starbuck's Viper engine? Lots of possibilities, but if they don't stay together, it all comes down to meaninglessness.

Love is never meaningless.  Sometimes it might not work out, but the journey is almost always worth taking.

You're a diehard romantic at heart, Sen.  One of the things I love about ya.  Now me, I'm a cynic and a sceptic, but you know that by now.

I would have liked to see her reunite with Cain.
I don't think that her settling with Starbuck was not that bad either.
I just feel that she had much more chemistry with Cain.

With Cain, she'd be much like Sheba's mother. Left behind, when he gets the itch to go off and fight a war. Any resultant children would end up somewhat like Sheba...largely raissed by one parent, with all the baggage that entails. At least w/Starbuck, he's there all the time. This is a plus.

Then again, Cain seemed comfortable enough with his daughter aboard.  I wonder if he'd extend that to his lady, especially if she was now a respectable med tech.

Hmm . . .

Given his desire to get both Cassie and Sheba off the Pegasus before taking on Baltar, I think not. he's realized that having Sheba there was perhaps bad enough. After Molacay, he had no choice. But now...I think even Cain realizes that having daughter and lover aboard at the same time is a recipe for fireworks. Plus, having both child and sex partner could become erosive of morale after a time. I think Cain is wise enough to know that to lead effectively, he must, like Caesar or Washington, share in his men's deprivations, not put himself above them.
