Thats what I love about Cassie as a strong female charcter: she was Starbuck's match in every way without being a bitch. She was just the right sort of girl for him: worldly wise and smart to the ways of men, intelligent AND beautiful. I never got hung up on the 'socialator' thing: I only ever saw it as like a traditional giesha role and not as a street hooker.
Cheers, Lara

I agree I never got hung up on her title either. I always liked that she knew what she wanted and went for it I kind of did that myself when I was in college with guys I liked..........

Well considering they never defined exactly what a socialator does, I am not conviced that its necessarily a whore. Im thinking maybe more like Geisha or even just high class escort. I mean real escort, not the "escort" variety. And we see how society today reacts to anything that can be misconstrued as sexual, then it could be that the religous lady on the refugee ship was just over reacting to her. After all, it didnt seem like Cassie was trying to turn tricks with the Viper pilots, and if she was a hooker, then she would definately have been doing that.

I know I had this discussion once before, just don't remember where. I would consider a Socialator more like a Vestal woman. She did say that it was approved of by the religious leaders.
You are correct, Wraith, more like a Geisha. Junto neh? I have had the pleasure of meeting and having dinner with a Geisha and her trainor (old battle axe<g>)
She was surprised that I hit her age of 20 right on the button.
Don't worry, My parents were with me or else ...<g>
That was 2 weeks before I went to war.

Cassie was making moves on the handsome warrior before that. When Starbuck promised to try and find her a better living arrangement with no strings attached, after embracing him she told him "But I think you're making a terrible deal". I loved the look on his face as she walked away after telling him that. That bemused "did she just say that?" look, followed immediately by "full turbos ahead". Classic scene.

I did like those scenes. I always seem to watch "Saga of a Starworld" and find myself rewinding to that scene. It's one of my favourites in the movie.

Actually, I got off my duff and posted a couple avatars on sites after you helped me out. I just haven't been over here for a while, so now my only excuse is laziness.

Lisa Terrifc. I changed my avatar. *I felt this one would be appropriate for Laurette's site* This one is from The Long Patrol. Cassie and Athena run into each other and both holding Starbuck's insignia pin. Classic!

Nice! A great moment. The fiery Athena and the amused/accepting Cassie. Lisa
