Well,
like I said with Colorado being an at will state and employer can terminate you for any reason at any time.

I have contact information for the paper and am calling today.  As far as a lawsuit..............it is a long, long story but I would say no.  In this case very hard to prove and let's say I have been down that road with an actual case that was proven and still cost me more than I should have ever had to pay.  I was young and naive and thought laws would protect me but they didn't and they don't really..............very few people actually "win" and if they do they will tell you like me it is not worth it...........and that was over a very good state job with great pay and benefits..........this is the bottom of the totem pole and I frankly don't want the hassle at this point in my life.  If that makes sense.............sometimes you have to choose your battles carefully.  I learned that the hard way.

So sorry to hear of this Jul. Your supervisors are bastards, but you knew that already. Sadly it may not even be your boss but the higher ups who want to get rid of the old timers in favor of keeping/hiring workers at a lower starting point. Used to be the longer you worked for a company the more worth you were to them. Now it's sadly the opposite. Or it may be another reason altogether, though connected. That meaning, that they have to cut their staff and use less hours overall, so they have to use less people to cover a certain number of hours and they'd rather have less people working more hours than more people working less hours. That's the sad aspect of the corporate world, I saw it countless times with Eckerd and CVS. Definately check with your union, if you are in one, or with a lawyer about what rights you still have. I'll be pulling for you and wishing you the best of thoughts (and your boss the worst of them).

Thanks Ron
We are not union and they don't want us to be and I can see why.  I am still in a bit of shock over the whole thing.  I knew they were mena........but wow.  It is really about power trips on both of the 20 year olds parts.  They are just pushing their power around picking and choosing who they are gonna to be jerks to for the fun of it.  It is their problem really buit I am caught in the middle of it.  *sigh*

That sucks. Eckerd was like that, they were strong opponents of unions and you could actually get fired for spreading union literature and trying to form a union or urge others to join one. They treated everyone so lousy they knew a union would never let them get away with it. I don't know what else to say, except to put together your own "resume" of job history with them, all your skills and the things you've done, the times you've gone above and beyond and put in extra time, ect, and present it to the bosse's boss and say this is how loyal I am and I'm being treated unfairly. What about Human Resources in the company? Most HRs are set up to (supposedly) help out the employee with job or supervisor trouble. At Eckerd they always said if you can't talk to your supervisor, talk to HR, and you would be protected from retribution from said supervisor. I don't know if your company has that.

Hey AMiga, I know you would rather not be in retail anymore but have you tried WalMart, Target, Kmart or Mervyns? May be even a western store that would be smaller than the jerk off place you work for now.

I worked at mervyn's before this job.  They are now out of business here in Colorado.  Most of those other stores also require Saturday and sunday of their part time people.  It may come to that for me, but that is the only time we are all together(the four of us)Hard choices no matter what.
