The title should more appropriately read: "My ideas of Battlestar Galactica."

At Julix's invitation, I have posted this.
For a while now, I've been working on my own "reinvention" of Battlestar Galactica. Some will say that Classic Galactica is perfect as it is, and it should not be fixed if it isn't broken. Well, I didn't set out to fix anything.

I simply have been writing this story as MY take on Battlestar Galactica. It combines elements of both the original and new series, but it leans largely toward the spirit of the original series.
For starters, Starbuck and Boomer are guys again. Characters like Kara and Sharon (who will be called Valerii in this tale) are their own seperate characters. (Plus, some may find Kara in this tale a bit more likable.)
The history I've chosen for the story borrows heavilly from both shows.
Dawg and I were talking about the naming conventions of the characters. I was never really happy with the "one name" approach, especially among a society of trillions of people. At first, I was going to go with the surnames/callsigns motif as in the new show, but after a discussion with Dawg, I decided to go a different route. Something that would allow for more than one Adama, or Apollo, or Starbuck as far as names go. It sounds alien enough to work, but is not alienating.
For those who may say it takes no talent to reimagine...well, that is a subjective statement. But trying to fuse a story together that uses elements from two shows, and making them work logically to tell a good tale....not as easy as one might think.
One person (a TOS fan to be sure) even referred to this story as an "upgrade" when she got around to reading it.

Most kind and flattering.
Anyhoo, if anyone here is interested in reading my take on the pilot story of Battlestar Galactica, the story is called "Battlestar Galactica: The Last Battlestar", and is available at my new Yahoo group.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BattlestarGalacticaTheLastBattlestarJust join it. (it's gratis). Then click on FILES, then The Last Battlestar, and download, staring with the preface. I'd love to know your thoughts on my version of BSG.
Respectfully,
