I found out on a Wednesday (April 26) on Jane's website that she would be appearing for a American Heart Association workshop in Cincinnati that Friday.  She was going to give a dinner speech at noon.  I figured they posted so late that there wouldn't be many sig hounds going.  I drove four hours and got there about 10:30am.  Jane shows up at 11:50am and starts mingling with the people outside of where it's going to happen.  I wander over and introduce myself and told her that I drove all the way from West Virginia to see her.  She said wow, like she had no idea how far that would be.  I asked her to sign my poster, and she said I must be quite the collector.  I said sure.  She signs it and I ask her a few questions about the BSG series.  She then goes into the luncheon.

I didn't get a photo with her, so I decided to wait until afterwards to see if I could catch her while she was coming out.  During this time, they were setting up books and tables in the lobby.  I asked, and found out that she was signing after the luncheon.  You could buy her book for $25, or a series of notecards with her artwork for $15.  I asked the lady if she was signing those for free, and she said she'd sign anything for free.

Well, since I bypassed her charity address because I didn't trust them, I bought 2 sets of notecards.  I waited until the majority of people who paid big money to attend the workshop, then I asked her to sign 2 8x10's.  She did notice I had bought the notecards, so maybe she would have said something if I didn't.  Anyway, she inscribed both.  I had a guy behind me in line and take a picture of us.  The 4 hour drive home, I was very happy!

Here's the pics.

By the way, bonus points for anybody that noticed that the one photo I got signed shows the image that the artist used when making the movie poster.

You will have to tell us the questions and answers she gave about BG.  I know the picture of her and Boxey is from the show and then in the poster.....I have the same Poster hanging in my computer room.  So what were you specifically asking about?  Great job on meeting her!!!!!!!!!! Well it was definitely worth the four hour drive.  So you have the movie poster as well?  Very cool!

I asked her how she got involved, and she said that Glen Larson approached her for the 3 hour movie.  In it, she is supposed to die of radiation poisioning.

But she said that she "tested" better than the other girls, so they talked her into doing the next 2 hour episodes.

She said she never wanted to do a series.  You can interpret that as either she didn't want to do series television at that time, or that she didn't want to be labled in scifi.  She didn't explain why, although there are rumors to the latter.

Another cool thing is remember in Saga when Laurette meets Starbuck for the first time, and then has her arm fixed by Dr. Payne right after?  Well Laurette came in later, and they took footage of Payne working on Serina.  That's actually Seymour's arm that Payne is "scanning".  It's all of the footage they had that didn't show Jane's face.
