I just got done watching Saga of a star world and Lost planet of the Gods part one and two and i don't get it.....................
I don't get how anyone wouldn't love this! It is so good and so relevant even to today's time and it is 27 years old! I mean I know it is all about likes dislikes etc and I know times change but come on that is just a great story with great characters and very touching momments. Lorne Green is so outstanding! So much faith and quiet determination. A father figure for all of the fleet and all of the viewers. One reason I am in disbelief is because on so many of the boards I frequent I see TOS get slammed and some have slammed it to my face(well not over the internet hahaha) but I just don't get how you can't love this show...........but even if you don't-which again I can't see...why slam it. I mean say you like a certain Pizza. Pizza A instead of Pizza B do you really go around saying how awful Pizza B is and on and on? Maybe that is a bad analogy................but color me confused

Some people are just intolerant of anything that goes against their likes. They don’t want anyone to be happy. Sort of like the terrorists attacking us because we have and love freedom. They don’t. Then again, some people are just idiots.

It's the whole schoolkid psychology where the "in" kids have to prove how popular they are by putting down everything else.
Of course I was never in the "in" crowd. I didn't have the type of personality that could put other people down so many hours a day. I'm too optimistic and like to focus on postive things.
I have to admit though, that I'm enjoying the fact that I ended up being much more successful than that "cool" crowd. I know I should be above such things, but I can't help thinking that I got my revenge when I drive by some of their houses from time to time.

What goes around comes around. The Cool crowd got their glory then. Now where are they?

I don't think there is anything wrong with having some satisfaction about your sucess and indeed you have achieved a lot Mike. The internet is a funny place where people can say nasty stuff because they can hide behind their computers but even still I have a hard time understanding all of it.

They keep going on about how great the glory days were and have no existence now. It's like their life ended after school.
Julix, the internet is a great place for people to hide behind their computers and spout whatever nonsense they want. They get enjoyment out of saying hurtful things and causing other people grief. I just can't identify with that.

Don't forget that AL Gore created the internet, so blame him for all that is wrong.

Well, Im part of a little group called FragDolls, and we get that kind of feedback a lot. Fanboys, is what we call them, and it usually is around wether PS2 or PS3 is better than X-Box or 360, or if Nintendo is good or lame, and on and on. Its stupid because they all, the three major platforms, have their strengths and weaknesses. Just like with GINO and TOS, they both have strengths and weaknesses. Both have good things and bad, its stupid to say one rules the other is lame, because theres things that both have to offer, and things both could be improved without. So chalk it up to the fanboys, they are fanatical zealots that just dont have a clue about the topic at all, and they just waste space and posts with their drivelling nonsence.

I appreciate all of your feedback and I know a lot of what you all said is true. Sometimes it is just very hard for me being who I am to try to realize that people can be that way. Ah well what is the Beetles song..............."Live and let Live" Oh wait....................it is "Live and let die"

Or it could simply be that the show is just out of their tastes...just the same as the new show is out of many people's tastes here. It's that simple.
Some people see the original show, and find it dated and...well, you've all heard the other adjectives applied.
To add on a little something I mentioned over at CA:
------------------------------------------
You know, it's interesting, but whenever I go into comic shops and movie stores down here, and I get to talking with the clerks, I mention Battlestar Galactica and their response has been (rather unanimously): "I love the new show." Right from the off. And these are guys who have seen, or are old enough to have seen the original show in its first run. (And yes, a couple of them unfortunately refer to the original as cheesy.)
I know it's a small number, but out of 20 people I have randomly discussed the subject with, they all love the new show.
However, none of them mention any awareness of any fanbase that complains about the new show, so even if they do bash the original, they're not bashing the fanbase.
When I mention my equivalent support for both shows, perhaps the worst response I've received has been: "I don't know. After watching the new show, I just can't watch the original show in the same light again. I mean, it was fun while it lasted, but now I just watch it for a good laugh."
----------------------------------------------------------------
Again, these are guys who are old enough to have seen, or at least remember the original Galactica in its first run. They're not raining on anyone's parade. They're just giving their informed opinions.
Personally, Julix, I am with you partially. How can anyone watch SASW and not enjoy it? But as I said, only partially, because unfortunately I can see some areas where people might not enjoy it.
Overall though, I still love SASW, Living Legend, Lost Planet of the Gods (still has the most heartwrenching scene of all original Galactica), War of the Gods, and Hand of God.
Respectfully,

While I agree with you for the most part Steve.............
everything comes down to a matter of taste, you either like something or you don't...I agree. The people I see in RL tend to like both shows however in RL they do not slam the original. It is only the anonimity of the internet that allows some people to just be down right scummy. Then again at the cons here there tend to be more tos only fans. For example Dirk's line at Starfest never let up while Tricia Helfer had only a small trickle of fans......................

To some people, it's all about the FX. Eye candy, but it rots your brain. No plot, no real drama and thought-provoking stuff. Just explosions, gratuitous sex, and gore. There is also the fact that BSG was unabashed about the religious background of Colonial civilization. Adama was unashamedly religious, even using their holy book as a guide to finding Kobol. The entire WOTG ep reeks with religious typology. Some people cannot endure that, even if they preach "tolerance". I for one agree that BSG is as relevant today as it was on premiere night. We may no longer have the good ol' Soviet Union, as typified by the Cylons, but we have other foes, just as ruthless, and just as bent on our obliteration.
Original BSG. The ONE AND ONLY!!!!!!!

Thanks Senmut, I had forgotten about this thread. It is a wonderful show and there is nothing like it. Not many shows that lasted only one season still have the staying power like BSG!
