If you're still interested in wanting to see an adventure set in the original Battlestar Galactica universe, please read the following:

Please write a letter to, fax or post the ad to the featured address, or if you own a website or some webspace please host the ad and include "Battlestar Galactica TOS original DVD adventure" in the URL.

If you're a member of any bulletin boards, no matter what the subject, please post the ad and some info about the campaign.

That's a pretty good ad there. Smiley

I actually think its a much more professional looking ad than the CFF one. But to be honest, you have to enhance the individual images which look kinda cheap in quality.

(Using curves in photoshop, or if you can't do that, the lightness and contrast, though that's not anywhere near as capable as curves)

btw, you mention faxing that ad.

Hmmmm.... I'm assuming you don't care about the image's quality in the fax right? That's why its a mostly text on white ad, I think. Cause all those images will look very unrecognizable after a fax hits it.

C.T.

I think this is a wonderful compromise to the reimagined series vs. the new series.  I'll say again.  I LOVED the old series.  I like the new series.

I completely agree.  It will not compete with the new series.  It will add to it, if anything.

You said that the original series DVD set sold around 150,000 copies in North America.  I know that I paid $75.00 for mine.

So if you use my cost as an average, it's over $11 million gross.  Now take into consideration the costs.  Well, the shows were already made.  Now I'll grant you, they did have to convert to DVD, they had to make the DVD's, and they did add the extras.  I freely admit I don't know how much that cost.

Now you are asking them to make a straight to DVD movie.  Ok, assume $25.00 apiece, which is I think is a touch on the high side for DVD's today.  If you think it would also sell 150,000 copies, which I will certainly think is achievable, counting on the old fans and those that would like to see more BG, the gross would be 3.75 mil.

Now how much would it cost to make?  That's the real question.  How much return per investment does Universal need?

We all know that in 1978 the cost  was 1 million per episode.  How much budget do you suggest for this DVD in 2005?

Don't get me wrong.  I would LOVE to see this, and I'd be the first in line to buy my copy.  But I want to know if it's feasible.

I think the ad looks great  Cool

There are a few ladies over at the Dirk boards who are going to Motor City Comic Con weekend after next ( Dirk's a guest ) and I'll ask them if they'd be so kind as to print some up and hand them out while they're walking around the convention.
Can't hurt.
