Ok, this isn't a grandiose statement or anything....just a Galactica fan speaking from the heart.

I, Steve Dunlap, Martok2112, have decided ultimately that there is a time and a place to discuss TNS "you know what".  That site may not necessarilly be here.  But there are others.

I have decided (at least for myself) that if this is such a place that TNS "you know what" is a less than welcome subject, (as far as positively speaking of it), then you have my accord that I will not speak of it here.

Make no mistake, yes, I am a supporter of both shows.  But, for a place such as here, I will not speak openly of my support for TNS "you know what."  Many fans of the beloved original Galactica (of which I am indeed a part) do not agree with my split views, and when my views are made known, if often causes dischord.  I do not wish to cause such things any further.  It sickens me to the core when friends argue over this subject to a point where personal derision becomes the order of the day.  Live and Let Live.  That is my watchword...and that is my oath to all my friends whereever you stand in the Galactica lexicon.

So, please, allow this soul to start on a clean slate, that we may all be friends and kindred in our love for Battlestar Galactica.  If you hold Battlestar Galactica to be TOS, then it shall be so with me.  That is all I will discuss with you, and with a glad, unreserved heart.  (Although my own "reimagining" may worm itself in somewhere... Cheesy shameless self-promotion)

For those whose views are somewhat more diverse, (this is NOT to suggest that TOS traditionalists are not diverse in their ideals, for they indeed have great ideas as to what will constitute an awesome continuation of TOS) well, as I stated above, there is a time and place for that.  Those views may not necessarilly be stated here, for the sake of amity.  I will honor and respect such wishes.   If this is a place where such views are tantamount to dischord, then let us speak of TNS "you know what" in PM, or at a site where it would be welcomed.  I do not speak this negatively WHATSOEVER of any site where discussion of TNS "you know what" is a cause for a ruckuss.   I like all sites regarding Battlestar Galactica to be my home, even if Galactica is not the primary focus.  (Trust me, when you're a touring musician such as I have been, anywhere you hang your hat is home.....but I'm no rolling stone, and I own only a couple of hats. Cheesy )

As much as I hate "form letters" I think this message spells it out best for me.   If you are a fan of the orignal Galactica, then I share that kinship with you.  If you are a fan of both, then likewise.   If you are a fan of strictly the new show, then let's simply appreciate the fact that without the original show, we would not have the new "you know what." And we shall discuss, and praise the new show where it is appropriate.  There is NO need for the fanbases to have an antagonistic stance when it comes to a name that we all love.

So, let this be a supplement to Two Brained Cylon's noble proposal, that we (as ladies and gentlemen), no longer speak of things which bring dischord to an otherwise happy home.  If you wish to speak of it, then God Bless, and let things run as they may), but I will not risk the friendships I have here as a result of conflicting points of view.

So, to those whom I call friend, and to those whom I wish to call friend:

Sandy (don't worry, I'll have the retakes for ya soon for The Exodus Series....life as a full time musician is really taking it's toll right now Smiley  )
Warrior
BST
Commander Taggart
Bishop37
Alternity Orange
Dawg (Dude, we need to chat again, because not only are you a good friend, but we've established some really cool stuff in "The Last Battlestar" and I will eternally be thankful to you for it)
Jewels
Agent Scooter X (truce, dude, seriously Smiley )
Eric Paddon
Julix
Amberstar
Titon
Tracy B (I'm so glad I have an audience to share my fracked up sense of humor with) Cheesy
Fragmentary
Mustex
Thomas7g
Paul
Star/Buck Rogers
Viperqueen (lotsa hugs, amiga)
Firestar Alpha (aka FireStar)
Starship Trooper
Sept17th (truncated) Cheesy
Darth Marley

there are SO MANY more, (and you ALL know who you are) but I think this addresses the core of the people to whom (in one way or another) I think my views may have had a topsy turvy affect, regardless of your fence position Smiley  .

So, what say we?  Peace?

Always respectfully,
Steve Dunlap (Martok2112)

P.S.  If you agree...please do NOT reply with "So Say We All." LOL!

Martok, your so silly. I love the peanuts outta yea. You think YOUR confused, I started out on CF as a very vocal advocate of GINO, and slowly changed to TOS. Now Im sorta like you, theres stuff about both shows I like and dislike. So dont feel like the lone ranger, you alwasy got the lone rangerette here to talk to. Besides, if these people can accept me after all the horrible things Ive done, they will love you cus Ive never seen you do anything bad.

Steve old buddy, I don’t know what brought that on but you said your peace. You know my position. I am a TOS fan and I agree, with TOS there would be nothing else. That’s why they call it Original.

As for that other show, you know the only reimagining that I agree with is the one that you have done. Now that would be a great show. In fact, I consider it to be THE only BSG after TOS.

You keep on writing and if people don’t like it, there is still the turbo flush.

I always heard that you never discuss politics and religion. Gueee they should add a third category, BSG. <g>

I noticed you didn’t put me in your list.

Wraith, I don’t think have done anything terrible except not finish your stories. You keep it up girl, you are a gifted writer

Thank you all.

Smiley

Just a personal decision I took last night.  No harms, no fouls.

Jim, forgive me that you weren't on the list.  Smiley We always cool, bro.  And thank you for the kind (if bold) words regarding "The Last Battlestar."  I've still got a ways to go on it.  Cheesy

Appreciatively to all,

Martok,

posts like this is one of the reasons I am reticent and slow to come back to my home at the CA. I missit, but I also need to be sure my head is screwed on right.   I tire of the arguments and the passions that erupt there.  You like a tv show.  It's not my favorite show, but it is a tv show.  I hate most reality tv, but I do not get into huge fights over it...I just say I don't like reality tv.

I needed all the arguing when I was in hell, now I am just tired of fights.

I hope this works for you.  You are a good man and a good friend.

I hear you about CA. Its like all the worst of the Moist board have made CA their home. I post less and less there and feel less and less compelled to bother. Although I love most of the guys there, like Taggart and Sandy and them, I have really got issues with some of the others. Lately Im even hesitant to bother with CF. I like it here, its nice, family kind of posts and I dont see the drama and the infighting that plagues other boards.
As far as the TOS vs GINO debate, its pretty much over. Ive stated before, I feel like a Brown Coat. I chose my side, and by ratings and longevity, GINO won. But thats ok, theres things about GINO I like too. So I still watch it, but to me it isnt really Battlestar Galactica, its more like Top Gun in space.
I again thank everyone here for putting up with my shit, and giving me the chance to be family. Ive known Martok from CF (where my saga started) and him and Sandy and a few others (Especially Breea) became my friends, and later after meeting Zan and Julix and the rest of you, Ive really decided that I like comming here as much just to hear from you all as to talk BSG.
I guess thats how it is with family. It doesnt have to be about BSG, its about us. And as long as there is an US, I think we will be the best board around.

Wraith you are part of the family. I would ask where were you when I was single and 24, but you weren't born yet<g>. You are the daughter here as you are younger than my youngest. (watch the cracks about being old). You are a breath of fresh air.

I sometimes go to Fleets but don't say much and I sometimes go to SOL. After having battled Trek web sites, I can understand your feelings. As far as I am concerned, you have done nothing to apologize for. You must protect yourself from creeps and cyber creeps as well. Lock the doors at home and don't ride alone at night in an open Jeep.

And if you need a cyber hug, you can get in here on LS.

Wraith, you mentioned some fine people to be friends with.  Sandy is one in a million.  There are a ot of good folks at CA.  The problem for me is not the site, but me.  I love a good argument and when I see one I dig in with both heels and fight it out to the death.  Then I get emotionally involved no matter how frivolous the topic to matters of import in this life.

I feel like I have just kinda started figuring out who I am and started settling into that role.  The frivolous flame wars are nice distractions that keep me from facing the fact that my life is not perfect and things did not really go according to plan for me.  If I can face that honestly without distraction, I can accept that pain of a fact and move forward with contentment.

Hence how I ended up being such a busy man and one who has had to cut a lot of stuff out of his life.  Damn.  I hate it when I make the picture clearer for others.

Martok, I support you, man.

Thanks for the replies, all.  (hands napkin to Warrior). Cheesy

However, please keep in mind, it was not my intention to start a discussion about other sites.  Smiley  Just a statement of self.

Just a decision that I made to once more keep things on an even keel, with myself if not with anyone else. Smiley

Ha!  Right now, I'm plodding along just trying to get through the next chapter.  There is a story element that I am trying to address so that it doesn't come across as too arbitrary, yet I don't want to draw it out either.

Respectfully,
