As Spambots and Porn Posters seem to have found their way to our little internet haven, after consulting with Julix, I invited our own Zankoku to take over as LS.com's official Membership Guru.

I am pleased to announce that he has accepted.

Effective immediately, the board's settings have been updated so that membership applications will now require administrative approval before new accounts are activated.  Jim will be reviewing those applications manually.

Julix has been vigilant about deleting the offending posts, and I did my first bannings earlier this week.  Now we have an extra layer of protection in keeping this board family-friendly, as befits Laurette.

I note that the membership of this board has grown over 200, and I know that not all of those memberships are legit... and as soon as I learn more about it, I'll try to facilitate a membership purge of all accounts that haven't posted in more than 90-days.

We're fortunate in that this board has a lower profile than some of the other Galactica related boards, but sadly... we can no longer count on that to protect us from the no-conscience spammers who would sully this site with their filth.

Please take a moment to thank Jim for assuming this responsibility.

Thank You so much Jim for the help!  I am curious though............I am getting emails in my account that look like they need to be screened.  Jim what is the process?  I want to understand and thanks again!

Good choice, Jim.  Congrats on your promotion! Commiserations on the increased responsibility!  Welcome to the club!

The process with the php software is pretty easy.  And picking out spammers is even easier.

Thanks Dwg and Julix.

Our friend Martok drafted me a few months ago on his two sites and the spammers from three places I go to really have been ticking me off.

So for since Friday I have caught 3.
