Well, like Lucas says, he is going to tell the story the way he wants to, and he realizes it's going to cut into ticket sales by small amount.

I really can't see any way of turning Skywalker in Darth Vader, getting beaten nearly to death, for the mrs. to run away from him and hide the children without it being rated at least PG-13.

A lot of dark stuff has to happen before the hero turns into the villian.

Mike...........
i think you are right.  I am glad Lucas is doing it they way he wants to, it is his story.  It is a dark tale and a painful one.  We are gonna see the movie first and decide but our six year old is way to young(and scares easy) to see it.  I very happily am of age(boy am I) Cheesy

Its just a pity he didn't start the current trilogy in the same way: he got all the kiddies hooked on Jar Jar and the kiddie friendly stuff for two movies and now Mum & Dad have to say no to the 8 - 10 year olds who are right into it.

I think its going to cause some parents some difficult decisions, especially in the face of the marketting onslaught in the toys market and teh saturation media hype. Very few of those toys have avoided being pitched at only the 13+ age group.

Cheers,

Lara,

You are exactly right.  The only purpose Jar Jar could possible serve is to hook the kids.

And yes, all the merchandising for the movie, and the kids are the biggest consumers.  And we have to tell our kids no to the movie.

Like I said, Lucas knew what he was getting into, and chose to take the hits on attendance, merchandising, etc. to make the movie he wanted.
