Under New Ownership

Greetings all.  As you all are aware, I'm sure, I'm not around here much these days.  I apologize for that, and rather than try to make lame excuses, I'll just say that my life has evolved, as lives tend to do, and while I am in a very good place in my life, I just don't have the time for all of the things that I used to have time for, including, I regret to say, this site.

I have communicated with Laurette, and, effective immediately, I am transferring the webmaster duties of LauretteSpang.com to our very own Dawg, who has graciously agreed to take over the reins.

I'll let Dawg speak to his own plans for the site, but suffice it to say we've communicated, I've expressed what I'd like to see happen with the site, and I've put him in touch with Laurette.

I want to thank each and everyone of you who have helped to establish this site, and this forum, as a presence on the board, both in support of Laurette and Battlestar Galactica, but also as a warm and welcoming online community "where everybody knows your name."

In particular, however, I need to thank Julix for her masterful leadership and caretaking of this board, Jim for his efforts to battle the evil galactic spambots (a fight which I believe Dawg is hoping to step up), and of course, Darrell, wherever he is, for creating this wonderful site to begin with.

I will, for the foreseeable future, retain my Administrator status, and make myself available to offer Dawg backup as he embarks on his new task to make LauretteSpang.com an even stronger site, and help keep our little corner of the web a special place to visit.

Please offer Dawg your congratulations... but make sure you let him sniff your hand before you get too close.

Well, I don’t know that “Under New Ownership” is exactly accurate, but I certainly appreciate the thought.  

I am honored to have the opportunity to take on this role.  Thank you, Bill, for bringing this site as far as it has come, and thanks to Julix and Jim for your efforts in keeping the forums in line.  I hope to live up to everyone’s expectations, but this is a team effort and I appreciate the individual efforts everyone on this team has made and will make down the road; even you, Bill, as I expect you to remain a valuable member of this little family.

I do not plan any extensive changes – after all, this is Laurette’s site, and we’ll be talking about the future and what needs to happen to keep things going in the direction they need to go.

And I’m aiming to have some fun.

And as for that raise, Jim, I’ll tell you what I’m going to do: I’m going to double what CT’s been giving you.

Don’t you just love being a volunteer?
