Laurette asked me to pass this on to everybody.
Hello!
I'm sitting here at 1:45 a.m. in a mad moment. Looking through this wonderful web site that you've
all contributed to. So much fun. Thank you for that.
I've been having a crazy year. Seems I'm always saying that but it seems to be true. My husbands 97
year old mother, Mary McCook passed away last month and my 92 year old stepmom Victoria Spang had a
massive stroke and also passed away. Hardy stock are we Spang-McCooks. Hard to say goodbye but again I am so proud of both as they were strong adventurous women.
I'm about to be a grandma again. Our daughter Rebecca is expecting a boy in July. Her daughter Charlotte "Charli" is almost 3 years old. Talk about cute. My son Jake is still making strides in his film editing career. You can find many of his films on youtube under Jake McCook or 'shimbob'. Our 18 year old Molly is working at her film/stage career and you can find some of her shows under Molly McCook on youtube. Her latest show in upstate New York was Andrew Lippa's "Wild Party". He came to see the production and loved it. Molly played "Queenie". What a world we live in where everything is facebook or youtube...or something high tech. Hey, it's taken me forever to figure out how to get online at this site to write to you.
I'm completely out of touch with the Galactica gang. Although from time to time I run into someone from the extended family. The Dykstras live in the neighborhood and a couple years ago I met Dennis Haysbert of "24" in Monte Carlo at a film festival and he came up to me and said that he'd played a Cylon on our show a few times. He was a huge fan of the show. That was the same trip where I was coming out of my hotel and two people ran up from a crowd to ask what it had been like to kiss Dirk Benedict. Wow. I'm on the other side of the world and still run into fans of Galactica. And then there was the ever present fascination with Starbuck and Cassiopea. Yeah, okay..so we did have some good chemistry. He was pretty cute and hard to resist. My job as Cassi (and Laurette) was to not let him know how cute I thought he was. He was getting plenty of that line. So I gave him a hard time every chance I could. We laughed alot.
Love to all and thanks again for staying in touch.
Best Wishes,
Laurette
